Doesn't whisky need to breathe? Why would I cap my glass?

Great question — and the DRAM CLAM® is designed around exactly this. Whisky absolutely benefits from opening in the glass. That's the point. You let it breathe, develop and reveal its layers of character — and then, when it's found its voice, you seal it there. The DRAM CLAM® doesn't interrupt the ritual of opening a pour. It preserves the reward of it.

Is it meant to use while drinking?

Yes — and it's one of the best ways to use it. Pop it on between sips to protect your pour from oxidation, insects and debris. It's especially great outdoors, by the fire pit, or anywhere you're drinking at your own pace. The DRAM CLAM® works as hard between sips as it does overnight.

Will it really preserve whisky overnight in the glass?

Absolutely. The airtight seal is effective for at least 24 hours — most customers report their pour tasting just as good the next day. Some have sealed a glass for 48 hours or longer with excellent results.

Will it affect the taste or smell of my whisky?

Not at all. The DRAM CLAM® is made from 100% food-grade silicone — completely odorless and flavor-neutral. It will never interfere with the aroma, taste or character of what's in your glass. What goes in is exactly what you get back.

What glasses does it fit?

The DRAM CLAM® sits on top of the rim and creates an airtight seal on any glass with a rim diameter smaller than 2.25 inches (57mm) — which covers Glencairn glasses (1.75" / 44mm rim) and the vast majority of tulip-shaped nosing and tasting glasses. If you're unsure, a quick measure of your rim diameter will tell you everything you need to know. It is not designed for rocks glasses, tumblers, pint glasses and such.

Does it work with all whisky styles — Scotch, Bourbon, Irish?

Absolutely. Whether it's a peaty Scotch, a rich Kentucky Bourbon, a smooth Irish whiskey or anything in between — the DRAM CLAM® preserves it all the same. If it's worth pouring, it's worth saving.

How do I clean it?

The DRAM CLAM® is dishwasher safe and holds up perfectly through repeated cycles with no warping or degradation. However, simple "rinse and rub" with just water is our preferred method and all that's really needed to keep the lids fresh and clean.
